Member Group

Select the member group from the drop-down list in
the upper left corner of the dialog.
|
Members
|
This list will show the members that are contained
in the selected group. Member 01 is initially highlighted by default. Click on
any member to make it active for field splice definition activities.
|
Default Settings
|
Press this button to access the field splice
default settings dialog. The Default Settings can be used later in individual
field splices by pressing the Use Defaults button
in the Settings dialog.
|
Add
|
For the selected member press the Add button to add
a field splice. A line will appear in the grid where the defining data for the
field splice will be entered.
|
Delete
|
Highlight the line in the grid and press this button
to delete it from the member definition.
|
Delete All
|
Press this button to delete all field splices from
the current member.
|

Reference type
|
Select the reference to be used for locating
the field splice. Options are:
- Beam Limit –
locates the field splice along the member
- Support –
locate relative to a selected support
- Cross-Frame –
locate relative to a selected cross frame
- Section Break –
locate relative to a section break

Reference
|
Depending on the Reference Type selected
above, this list will contain lists of the respective elements as follows:
- Reference Type = Beam Limit
– Start, End of Beam
- Reference Type = Support
– shows a list of existing supports
- Reference Type = Cross
Frame – shows a list of cross frames that connect to the beam
- Reference Type = Section
Break – shows a list of section breaks
Reference Type = Section Break - shows a list of
section breaks where top and/or bottom flange or web change dimension.

Offset
|
Enter a +/- offset distance from the reference
type. + will be up station and - will be down station.
|
Beam Along
|
This read only field shows the distance of
the field splice from the beginning of the beam in feet or meters.
|
Beam Ratio
|
This read only field shows the fractional
location of the field splice from the beginning of the beam.
|
Status
|
Status:
- Current = the
field splice design is current relative to the bridge model and field splice
settings
- Out of
date=design check need to be run first:
- Case 1:
not designed yet.
- Case 2:
values from Field Splice were modified.
- Run
analysis=The POI where the field splice is located has not been analyzed yet.
Save and exit the field splice command. Perform Analysis then return to the
Field Splice command and resume activities.

Results
|
Containing summary of Design and or Check.
Status:
- Is Good:
OK(Green)
- Has Warnings:
Warning (orange)
- Not Good: NG
(Red), not good (if Design/Check operation was not applied).
- Blank - the
field splice was never designed or checked
Click on the Result field to see the Critical
Ratio and the Load Combination name where the maximum critical ratio was found.

Design/Check
|
This button will be labeled Check or Design
depending on the selection made on the bottom of the field splice Settings
dialog. If Check was selected on the Settings dialog, pressing this button will
activate specification checking of the field splice flange and web components
as they are defined (dimensioned) in the Settings dialog. If Design was
selected on the Settings dialog the field splice will be designed/optimized
according to the parameters specified on the Settings dialog. Note that for
Check or Design, all load combinations defined on the LEAP Bridge Steel Load
dialog, including construction stages, are included.

Settings

Press this button to see the current Settings
for the field splice. See the table below for setting definitions.

Report
|
Press this button to see the reports for the
field splice.
|

Design/Check all
|
Press this button to design or check all field
splices. Design or check will be done as specified in the Settings for each
field splice. Check the Only out of date locations check box to only design or
check field splices that are out of date.

Save DGN
|
Press this button to save the splice locations plan
view schematic to a
MicroStation .dgn file.
|
Generate FS map
|
Press this button to generate a 3D
MicroStation file that contains field splice
drawings for one of the following:
- All members in this
bridge
- All members in the
selected group
- The Selected member
|
OK
|
Press this button to save the field splice
definitions and exit the dialog.
|
Cancel
|
Press this button to exit the dialog without saving
field splice information.
